Brighten Up Project

When HDL decided on a community support initiative called the ‘brighten up’ project, Resene offered its wholehearted support.

It was decided that HDL would paint one room every few months for someone over 65 who owned and lived in their own home and who would not normally be in a financial position to redecorate.

North Shore Age Concern advertised the project in the local paper and oversaw the selection process with all prospective recipients going into a draw.

The first winner, Joan Guest (85) was treated to lunch and flowers while her dining room, kitchen and cupboards were painted in her chosen colours.

Resene Quarter Spanish White (light neutral) and Resene Symphony (willowy green) with donated paint from Resene. Joan, 85 says she is ‘still on cloud 9’ after her win and best of all, she gets to enjoy her prize every day.

The project continues with the next worthy recipient pencilled in for work commencing August 2011.
