HDL has combined efforts to help senior citizens brighten up their lives. A little colour can change people’s lives and Age Concern North Shore regularly helps us select project recipients who receive a painted room makeover free of charge. HDL supply the labour, Resene supply the paint and Kings Plant Barn provides a plant or bouquet at the end of the work to complete the “brighten up” concept. All people over 65 years who own and live in their own homes within the North Shore city boundaries are eligible. Application forms are available from Age Concern’s office. Philanthropy is good for business & HDL challenges other businesses to support local charity groups. HDL started supporting the StepUp Foundation last year as a gesture of good will and it's had positive impacts on their business.

HDL contributes monthly to this great cause. World Vision helps transform the lives of the world’s poorest children and families in nearly 100 countries, including the United States. World Vision’s non-profit work extends assistance to all people, regardless of their religious beliefs, gender, race, or ethnic background.

Resene Paint Wise
More than six litres of household paint is sold each year for each person in New Zealand. That's a lot of paint particularly as much of it is left sitting in paint containers and ends up in landfills. This is why HDL recycles all of its empty paint tins via the Resene paint-wise program. This program, running in Auckland, Hamilton and Tauranga since 1 September 2005, has donated over 5000 litres of paint to community groups for everything from town beautification through to arts and crafts work, covering unsightly graffiti and repainting horse jumps.

Enviromental Choice
The environmental choice NZ aim is to improve the quality of the environment by encouraging more sustainable processes through the design, production, marketing, & use of products which have a reduced environmental impact during their entire life cycle, which is why HDL wherever possible uses paints with the environmental choice tick. HDL also prefers to use low VoC paints as it is better for the environment, our team members and you! So if you would like a healthier environment in your home please let us know.
