Since 1980

Paul Holcombe the original Owner of HDL started his painting career with his father Ray Holcombe and once his training was complete, he started out on his own, forming his own company in 1976 originally named Holcombe Decorators Ltd, later this was changed to HDL the painting professionals. Paul realised early on that he needed a great team to complete some of the bigger work that he was pricing and he realised the importance of having reliable, honest, skilled and client friendly team members.

Retiring in 2011, Paul and his wife Yvonne now enjoy a motor home lifestyle that is well deserved. New Owner Vic de Bettencor and his Office Administrator Lydia du Buisson are carrying on as before with the excellent work ethic and attention to quality that has made HDL's reputation. Vic's trade and property management background allows him to view jobs from a client perspective but it is the great team of long-term, dedicated craftsmen painters & wallpaper hangers that are the core of HDL today, and why clients keep returning to us for their decorating needs.

In 1984 Mike Evans joined HDL and to this day Mike is still a crucial part of the team. Mike is from the UK and has learnt some of his skills from his father too.
